and that was that.
us second grade future astronauts
watched it split in two.
it was cold in florida that day.
we didn’t understand,
and that was that.
the t.v. was turned off
and we learned something that i’ve since forgotten.

That afternoon, in 1986, I was on my way back home from a luncheon in Alden with my girlfriends....that's when we heard the news. It was an unbelievable feeling. Then when I thought about how the family members felt as they watched their loved ones, it just made me cry.
